Athletics: Philosophy

Athletics, an important part of the AES experience, teach fundamentals, techniques, and sportsmanship.

Through the years, competitive athletics have provided our students with valuable opportunities to work, grow, and mature.  They learn life lessons such as teamwork, dedication, and responsibility and practice respect for opponents and the rules.  They develop the ability to win and lose with grace.

At AES, our athletic programs are designed to assure that all athletes learn the proper skills from the best possible coaches. While we acknowledge that not all students are suited to four years of high school athletics, it is our hope that each athlete will want to play the sport of his or her choosing until graduation.

One unique advantage Ascension offers its student athletes is an opportunity to play and/or participate in multiple sports. Simply put, we have a smaller student body than larger schools in the area, providing our student-athletes with more chances to take the field and gain valuable game time experience.

All students in grades 5-12 are eligible to participate in a wide variety of offered sports.
